In this comprehensive 3‑hour training, students will be introduced to the full spectrum of real estate closing fundamentals essential for success in a closing or settlement role. The course begins with an overview of the closing process and the importance of accuracy, timing, and compliance in every step. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the critical functions performed by a closer and how those responsibilities support a smooth and compliant real estate transaction from start to finish.
Students will develop familiarity with the closer’s core duties, including verifying transaction information, balancing figures with the lender, and managing all receipts and disbursements associated with the file. Through guided instruction, learners will explore the practical skills needed to complete key tasks such as file balancing, wire calculation, closing document preparation, and Closing Disclosure (CD) balancing. Emphasis is placed on precision, communication, and adherence to lender and regulatory requirements.
The training also covers specialized components that every effective closer must master, including calculating intangible and transfer taxes and understanding title exceptions and how they impact the closing package. By the end of the session, students will have a solid foundation in both the technical and administrative aspects of closing operations, preparing them to support real estate transactions with confidence and professionalism.
